Indians at Mariners, July 18th - King Felix, Back in his Castle

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Where is the sun? It was going to be a steamy 75 in Seattle today. Right now it’s 60 degrees and cloudy. Hmm… well at least come 7:10 we’ll all feel the warm glow of Felix Hernandez on the mound. The friendly people at Safeco Field will give you a statue of him tonight just for showing up! By the way, if I see you with more than one bobblehead, and you’re not carrying it for a child, a grandparent, or your spouse who’s using the restroom, I will stomp on your kneecaps just to give you a taste of the damage that is about to be inflicted upon your dirty little hoard of Mariners memorabilia.

Tonight is not about violence, however, but about the team that we love to love…. the Seattle Mariners. After months of frustration and calls for the impeachment of every member of the organization, there has been what appears to be the start of a rebuilding phase. So even if there is all kinds of news about the Mariners firing people, promoting and demoting, trading and releasing, they still won’t be any better for a while. So, let’s not expect them to be. Let’s watch some baseball games because it’s summer and because there is no better place on earth to put your good eating habits on hold thanks to the glorious traditions of America’s Favorite Pastime.
