Tigers at Mariners, July 4th
Friday, July 4th, 2008Happy 4th to all. In celebration we’ll see Bedard versus Rogers in a day game. Not too shabby. Maybe Erik Bedard can pitch in to the 7th? 8th? Okay… the 7th would be great.
Rumor has it that Bedard is still on the block, but not as much of a priority as shipping some of the other veterans away. The fact of the matter is that he can still probably fetch more in return than most of the other guys, so it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. For the time being, I still like watching him even if he gets sleepy after facing twenty batters.
POST GAME: Surprise! Erik Bedard lasted five innings. He seemed to throw pretty well though, and when you have Sean Green and Brandon Morrow watching your back, you end up winning 4-1. Jamie Burke gets the gold star today, going 2-3 with a pair of runs scored. He also had to wear all of his gear on a warm day, and showed us that he has a much more even temperament than his Tigers counterpart, Ivan Rodriguez. Kenny Rogers had to go and plunk Ichiro before he left the game. He may not see the consequences of that move today, but he shouldn’t be surprised when his head starts shrinking and he slowly beings to lose his mind.
